Fees and Expenses of the UNH Italy Study Abroad Program 
Travel and Insurance
Participants must make their own travel arrangements unless availability of a group flight is noted. Normally participants fly to Rome or Ancona and then take the train or the bus to Ascoli Piceno. The UNH-in-Italy program will purchase the medical insurance coverage requested by the Italian authorities. Trip cancellation and repatriation insurance are left to each individual's discretion.
Semester Fees and Expenses
(The UNH-in-Italy Program reserves the right to adjust fees at any time.)
Tuition for courses up to 20 credits, housing, course-related excursions, health insurance, and residency permit are included in the costs. A non-refundable payment of $40 is required at the time of application. Students must also pay a housing damage deposit of $200; any unused portion will be refunded after the students return to the United States.

Payment Deadlines
A non-refundable deposit of $400 is due two weeks after receipt of an acceptance letter. The balance will be be due in August for the fall semester and in December for the spring semester. All students, including those whose fees are paid 100% with financial aid, or students whose fees are paid with the AMS plan, must pay the deposit.
Nota Bene
Students participating in the program are exempt from mandatory university fees (with the exception of the technology fee) for the semester. All UNH financial aid is valid for the UNH-in-Italy program.

Financial aid recipients continue to receive all of their scholarships and aid--including work study.
CIE (Center for International Education) conducts an annual scholarship competition and awards several $500 grants to eligible undergraduate. Applicants must be full-time degree candidates who have at least 32 hours earned credit, a declared major, and a 3.0 minimum GPA. Guidelines and application forms are available online and in Hood House 223. Deadline is the last business day in March.
Foley-Jackson Scholarship for International Studies - Each year, letters are sent to UNH sophomores who are New Hampshire residents, are eligible to study abroad, and who meet the Financial Aid Office’s definition of grant-eligible financial need, inviting them to apply for this special study abroad scholarship.
Students receiving a federal Pell Grant are eligible for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship (http://www.iie.org/programs/gilman/index.html).

The costs for the 2008 Summer Painting Italy in Context program are:
$3,572 program fee for NH residents ($3,680 for non-NH residents) which covers tuition for 4 undergraduate credits (graduate credits will incur a higher program fee - $3,748 NH residents, $3,876 non-NH residents), housing, approximately two group meals per week,
travel within Italy on program trips (including lodging on overnight trips), and
entrance fees to selected museums

The program fee for the 2008 Summer Renaissance program is $3,544 for NH residents and $3,760 for non-NH residents, which covers tuition for 8 credits, housing, some meals, travel within Italy on program trips, and entrance fees to selected museums. The following expenses are not included in the program fee:

Airrfare
is also not included, although a group round
trip flight ($1,200) from Boston to Italy will be arranged for all participants if there is sufficient interest. Students
may also opt to make their own travel plans.
The program fee for the 2008 Exploration in Culture and Nutrition program is $3,544 for NH residents and $3760 for non-NH residents. The program fee covers tuition for 8 credits, housing, some meals, travel within Italy on program trips, and entrance fees to selected museums. The following expenses are not included in the program fee:
